He may be hard at work on the much-anticipated Bad Boys for Life, but according to Deadline, Will Smith will not be reprising his role as Deadshot in the impending Suicide Squad sequel.

The publication reports that Smith's decision not to star in Suicide Squad 2 came down to scheduling. There was no prior official word as to if the 50-year-old actor would be cast in the followup regardless. Deadline also points out that there are no hard feelings between Smith and director James Gunn, as the exit was amicable.

Production for Gunn's Suicide Squad sequel will reportedly begin this September in Atlanta. As it stands, the cast has yet to be confirmed, but expect Margot Robbie to return as Harley Quinn.

Suicide Squad 2 is scheduled to release on August 6, 2021.
