Double Tap to Zoom

Behind-the-scenes images from set of upcoming Sopranos sequel The Many Saints of Newark have given us our first look at Michael Gandolfini as he steps into his father's shoes as iconic gangster Tony Soprano.

Spotted sporting two strong looks — a green check shirt with brown corduroy flares in one, double denim and brown striped tee in the other — the 19-year-old Gandolfini Jr. looks every bit the part, fully channeling a young Tony. Or rather, what we imagine Tony would have looked like in the late ’60s, before he really started to channel that mob-boss aesthetic we all came to love in HBO's classic series.

The movie is set during Newark's 1967 race riots and will show Soprano as he grows to become one of New Jersey's most powerful mob bosses. John Bernthal (The Punisher), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), and John Magaro (The Umbrella Academy) also star.

The Many Saints of Newark is slated for release on September 25, 2020.
