A Techy adidas Dad Shoe Becomes a Strappy Ballet Sneaker With Ease
Remember the adidas Adistar Control 5? Well, the dad shoe just got MJ'd (Mary Jane'd).
adidas has essentially cut the tongue and shoelaces off the dadcore sneaker and replaced them with simple straps. The results? An all-new ballet-coded sneaker known as the Adistar Control 5 MJ.
Dancer-style lace system aside, the rest of the Mary Jane sneaker is still pretty much the classic Adistar Control 5. It maintains the breezy mesh uppers, the general Y2K styling, and the chunky, cushy soles.
adidas just made its dad shoe easier and more ballerina-y.
With the Adistar sneaker, the sportswear brand continues to prove that any Three-Stripes model can be a Mary Jane. adidas has already introduced Mary Jane hybrid versions of its classic Samba and even the Tokyo sneaker.
Not to mention, the retro Anfu sneaker also recently got Mary Jane-ified. Now, adidas' definitive dad sneaker has received the cutesy treatment.
Speaking of which, the Adistar Control 5 MJ sneaker has already begun to appear at some overseas retailers, like JD Sports Malaysia, in a grey colorway.
It's unknown if the model will get a wider release or become a region-exclusive. But at least, it won't be lonely amongst the plethora of other strapped-up adidas ballet sneakers.
