Call us preemptive, but we just think we’re prepared. We would hate to see summer roll around and for our loyal readers to be left without the right rotation. That’s why we can’t seem to get summer sneakers out of our mind right now.

Since their OG release in the ‘70s, the adidas Island Series has been a source of timeless summer steeze. Countless iterations of the lightweight silhouette in pitch-perfect colorways: unbeatable really. Now, with summer edging into the horizon, we’re hyper-focused on the adidas Tahiti Marine.

The adidas Tahiti originally dropped in 1974 and was so good that it’s had four separate updates since then: 1996, 2001, 2015, and 2025.

The latest of these revivals sees the slim silhouette dressed a darker, richer hue of Marine blue. This stands in stark contrast to the lighter, dustier blues that the design’s older releases were built around.

Sure, many people — especially those that grew up wearing the adidas Tahiti — will prefer to stick to the older colorway, but objectively, the head-turning Marine blue adds a ton of extra punch to the design.

Maintaining the shoe’s dark blue sole unit, the upper features two slightly different tones of Marine blue to add depth to the suede finish. The Three Stripes insignia, lining, and heel tab are delivered in a lighter hue.

There’s a reason that the adidas Island Series has been around and popular for so long. It’s an endlessly iterative source of inspiration. The understated base fits every colorway, but some work better than others, and the adidas Tahiti Marine (along with last year's Trinidad & Tobago shoe) is our selection for the coming season.
