Trail running probably is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the Air Jordan 1 shoe. Basketball, sure. Streetwear, definitely. A muddy detour with your gorpcore friends, not so much.

But the Air Jordan 1 Element Low A/T sneaker has quietly been working to change that association, nudging the iconic silhouette further outdoors with each new colorway.

The latest “Sail” edition is easily one of the line’s cleanest yet. Dressed in creamy off-white with hints of faded yellow, this Jordan sneaker stands out against the recent run of darker blues and blacks.

It feels less tactical, more lifestyle, even if the shoe is still very much built for the elements.

This is where the A/T earns its name. The upper combines durable grid nylon with premium suede, while a GORE-TEX lining delivers the waterproof protection and breathability the material is famous for.

Nike has flirted with outdoor-ready Jordans before, most notably through GORE-TEX Jordan 1 Highs, but the Low A/T pushes things further into modern gorp territory.

Visually, the shoe shares DNA with ACG Mountain models and Nike’s outdoorsy C1TY sneaker, softened by familiar Air Jordan 1 cues like the perforated toe box.

Expected to land on Nike’s website for around $200, this is a Jordan 1 that feels slightly out of its element, and somehow all the better for it.
