At Caroline Hu's Fall 2024 show, the designer again blessed the Paris runways with her wonderfully ruffed adidas sneakers. But Hu's frilly sneakers wouldn't be just for the catwalk this time. Hu confirmed her adidas collaboration will be up for the grabbing "soon."

That was in March. Fast forward to May, Hu is finally sharing her ruffled-up adidas sneakers with the world.

Through her Reverie imprint, Hu plans to release adidas Samba sneakers in four colorways, including black, pink, blue, and white.

As we've seen at fashion week, Hu's Sambas arrive either blooming with bunched-up lace or completely swaddled in shearing satin. It's essentially design techniques borrowed from Hu's seasonal pieces and applied to the classic adidas sneaker. And admittedly, Hu's signature concepts look quite good on the Samba.

Most of the adidas models fall under the spell of Hu's satin and loofah-style takeovers (yep, the Three Stripes, too). However, some details are left frill-free, like Samba's traditional gum sole and the branded insoles.

And last but not least, collaborative tags land on the textural tongues, reiterating the marriage of Hu's design magic and adidas' iconic model.

Fall 2024 wasn't our first encounter with Hu's ruffled-up adidas sneakers. We'd gotten a taste of Hu's frilly spin on the adidas Sambas (and more) during Hu's Spring/Summer 2024 presentation. However, those were customs just for the runway presentation, apparently.

Now after the runway debut, Reverie by Caroline Hu's adidas Samba sneakers are scheduled to drop on May 24 on adidas' CONFIRMED app and at adidas stores. Hu's Sambas will also be available on Juice's website.

After Wales Bonner's hairy spins and even those napkin customs, the secret ingredient for the best Sambas is clear: add a dash of texture...or full on ruffled skirt, if you're Caroline Hu.
