Soccer has taken the world by storm throughout this lively, sports-fueled summer, painting city streets with multicolored jerseys and flags from every corner of the world. But whether you’re an avid viewer or not, the world’s most-watched tournament offered a little something for everyone: neighborhood watch parties, multicultural crossovers, and once-in-a-lifetime moments — I mean, we even got a mini concert from some of everyone’s favorite pop star to cap it all off.
Though the competition took place on a global stage, New York City was a central hub for the entire showcase and served as the main stage for the Finals on Sunday, July 19. Keeping the gameday energy high, Highsnobiety and Chase Sapphire Reserve® curated an evening of food, friends, and, of course, footy to conclude over a month of festive fanfare.
Hosted by Aleali May, the night kicked off (pun very intended) as guests ascended the stairs of TheTwentyTwo in the heart of downtown NYC. Normally a private members-only club, the exclusive space opened its doors for the evening to give the Highsnobiety family room to celebrate the final match.
Before the kick-off, attendees enjoyed a cocktail hour — complete with custom drinks, small bites including tomato tarts and mini lobster rolls, and sounds by DJ Rich Fazo. After drumming up some pre-game excitement, guests chose between settling inside the venue’s ornate salon or outside in the courtyard to view the showdown.
With high-energy moments taking place on screen, wagyu hot dogs as well as Spain and Argentina flag-adorned burgers floated around the room, only briefly drawing guests' attention away from the action. As the clock continued to countdown — or up in this case — notable tastemakers including Aurora Anthony, Hugo Lecot, MJ Marte, and Matthew Yoscary mingled alongside diehard soccer fans, converting your traditional watch party into an occasion where sport and style converged.
Away from the pitch, a Chase Sapphire-blue photobooth provided keepsake strips for partygoers, while everyone walked away with fashionable souvenirs like blue terrace scarves and Siegelman Stable bucket hats — outfitting viewers to watch in style.
Even as the final whistle shrilled, clinching Spain’s coveted win, the party wasn’t over just yet. Replacing the sounds of elated cheers, upbeat music filled the room once more, and the afters ensued — a reminder that moments like these aren’t just about watching the game, but where, how, and most importantly, who you watch it with.
