The Paraboot Thier is an archetypal leather shoe, a classic derby from the ‘60s with a moccasin-style toe box and heeled rubber sole. Even when the Montreal skaters at Dime get involved, it’s still pretty classic. It’s just also now extra saucy.

Dime hasn’t changed the form of Paraboot’s time-honored leather shoe, yet its interventions are substantial.

Every square inch of this handmade black leather derby has ben etched with a complex series of patterns, like doodles in a school binder.

There’s a wavy grid covering the top of the shoe that mimics the meandering paneling of Dime’s signature puffer jackets, framed by a series of lines and dots. But the most prominent additions are neat rows of smiley faces that sit side by side along the shoe’s medial panel, like the old-school leather shoe was dressed by a '90s acid-house rave poster.

Clearly, these aren’t your average hardworking Paraboots. Except they are, which is why Dime’s renovation feels so right.

By dropping this shoe on November 22, the two brands are pushing each other into new territory. It's an uncharacteristically graphic design for Paraboot and also an uncharacteristically formal shoe for Dime. 

The Canadian streetwear label’s frequent footwear projects are typically rooted in skating, encompassing both expected fare from brands like Vans and silhouettes less commonly shred, like adidas' Stan Smith

And though it’ll occasionally venture outside its comfort zone into even sporty runners, Dime’s never gone as far as lacing up traditional leather shoes. Traditional doodle-covered leather shoes, no less.

Luckily for Dime, ever open-minded Paraboot is game.
