While some sneakerheads use the airport security line as a chance to snap an outfit grid-style shot of their kicks and accessories, British artist and photographer Hugh Turvey has taken things to the next level with his latest project.

Turvey X-rayed some of 2018’s most hyped sneakers, including the Balenciaga Triple S, YEEZY 500 Desert Rat, and the Gucci Flashtrek. Toeing the line between photography and radiology, the artist was able to use x-ray technology to create what he calls “xograms,” which are basically a fusion of visible light and x-ray imagery.

The result is stunning and refreshingly different to the homogenous sneaker photography that is already all over Instagram.

We’ve all been there, in line at the airport — some of us have even snapped the cheeky photo or stolen a glance at the X-Ray monitor — Turvey just took things a step further with his latest project.
