This Techy Slip-On Is the 3D-Printed Future of Air Max
The Air Max line dates back to 1987 and ranks as one of the most successful sneaker families ever. That’s because, although its OG gems still hold their own, Nike designers never stopped moving with the times.
While the Air Max 1, 90, or 95 continue to hold top spots in rotations, Nike is consistently adding to the Air Max range, ensuring it evolves with new trends and new technologies. The Nike Air Max 1000 Black/Volt is perfect proof.
Air Max Day is just around the corner, and we’re accustomed to getting a range of exciting releases and colorways each year. This year is one of the best in memory, though, with the Air Max 1000 hitting shelves.
The silhouette is made in collaboration with forward-thinking sneaker brand Zellerfeld who have become one of the foremost names in 3D-printed footwear.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen this silhouette. Nike and Zellerfeld released a super-limited run back in August 2025 which sold out immediately through raffle.
On Air Max Day, raffles reopen for another chance at this futuristic pair which combines 3D design with Nike’s signature Air Max windows to the heel.
Despite the Air Max 1000 Black/Volt being a limited release for now, it is certainly a nod to what we can expect in the coming years from Nike. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the Nike Air Max 1000 seeing a wider general release sooner rather than later.
