First, Nike's Retro Sneaker Went Bode. Now, It’s Gone Miu Miu
Nike just sprinkled a bit of Miu Miu flavor into the Astrograbber's stylish revival.
The latest version of the reborn football sneaker is truly no other we've seen yet. Nike has replaced the usual leather uppers with super-breathable mesh, all bathed in this pleasing "Ocean Cube" blue color.
It also features nice fuzzy suede accents and a greyed-out sole with the iconic Waffle traction. But the second-best part, aside from its summer-ready build? Nike has doubled up on the shoelaces, giving it a cool, fashion-y vibe.
It's all very Miu Miu-coded, playing on how the luxury label styles its most popular sneakers, which have become trendsetters in their own right.
Nike has also given similar double-laced treatments to the timeless Air Force 1 Low and the recently revived Sprint Sister, another retro runner model from the 1970s that's been refreshed for today.
The Nike Astrograbber "Ocean Cube" sneaker is now available on Billy's website for ¥15,730, or around $98, alongside the Air Force 1s.
It's crazy to think the Astrograbber used to tear up the football fields back in the day. And now, it's living its life as a full-fledged fashion sneaker.
Literally, it returned to the market through a collaboration with fashion label Bode. Then Nike made more Bode-like sneakers in-house. Now, the Astrograbber has gone "Miu Miu" mode.
