Newly Textured, Nike's BODE-Approved Football Runners Just Got Fancy
When it comes to collaborations, at this point it’s standard procedure for a brand to sift through Nike’s archive and pull out a lesser-known, lightweight silhouette to recontextualize and put back in the spotlight.
Some fade into the background, but others really land, and when the collaboration lands, it usually means that a wider release is coming from Nike. This is the case for the Nike Astrograbber Light Cream which sees the shoe get fancy.
When New York powerhouse BODE put its sought-after name to the Nike Astrograbber back in 2024, the future looked inevitably bright for the silhouette which originally hit shelves in 1974.
And, as predicted, the Astrograbber dominated sneaker discourse on release, prompting Nike to reissue the design with a wider release. Now, we’re reaping the benefits with a host of mainline colorways readily available.
But while most iterations available feature bold, color-blocked leather uppers, the new Nike Astrograbber Light Cream sees the silhouette dressed much more elegantly than we’re used to.
The design plays with two main colors of Light Cream and Burgundy Crush which mesh effortlessly, but the beauty lies in the details here.
A subtle jacquard floral pattern splits suede to the front and heel of the upper while the finishing touch comes in the form of ribbon laces to round out the graceful aesthetic.
