"Noisy Japanese cotton nylon. A certain ecclesiastical mood. UPS driver’s getups. A typewriter cotton..'80s and '90s American sportswear. Greengrocer jackets,” says Nick Wakeman, Studio Nicholson founder, speaking to the inspirations of her label's Spring 2025 collection.

Amongst those disparate influences, note the callout to the working deliveryfolks: The monotone UPS uniform is just that stylish.

Studio Nicholson Spring 2025 isn't merely a question of what brown can do for you but an exploration of the idea that a uniform is something earned, aspirational, beautiful.

This is why Studio Nicholson, as ever, eschews trend in favor of timeless. If you're at all familiar with the British brand, its new co-ed collection will not surprise but it will please.

No delivery driver jackets here, per se, just variations on relaxed, classic themes.

A little Americana in the wool/leather stadium jacket, a little Donna Karan in the shapely dresses, a little '80s-ish Italian sprezzatura in the cocooning suits. All expressive in silhouette but grounded in approach. It may be complicated to make this stuff — and especially to make it well — but it need not be complicated to style.

This is the modular wardrobe that Studio Nicholson has made its signature, a series of no-brainer garments built for stylish daily wear. A uniform, to be sure, but not as UPS would know it.

“As always, it began with excitement over fabrics and where those could potentially lead us," Wakeman continued. "But of course, along the way, various subplots emerged which have given way to a collection that features a lot of long silhouettes, a kind of softness, and a handful of strong yet steady wardrobe archetypes.”
